New Bloggers

Contrary to the blog title this first posting is about Chris and Georg in Washington DC. We visited the Cherry Blossom Festival last weekend. Unfortunately we had only Saturday evening and Sunday but it still was well worth the four hour drive. The blossoms were peeking and gorgeous. They look so delicate when compared to the harsh gnarled and rough bark of the cherry trees. Although it was freezing cold we spent more than two hours walking all around the Tidal Basin, paying a short visit to Jefferson and then going on to have some festival food which turned out to be, not surprisingly too expensive and not very good. We had "Japanese" food which was tasteless and cold. Happily though that was the only glitch to our visit. If you go next weekend be sure to get to the cherry trees as early in the morning as possible, as it does fill up quickly after 10 am. Oh, and I must mention that we went to see the Condensed Mikado, a Gilbert and Sullivan Opera at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. If you like this kind of thing, GO AND SEE IT! They are hilarious and such good singing! I was especially impressed by Katisha, Pooh Ba and Yum Yum. I also bow to the man at the piano, because he plays through the whole 1 1/2 hour show, turning his own pages and still never missing a beat - short sharp shock, big black block!! Wow!
